SAP and Microsoft Launch Duet.com
With the announcement of Duet, SAP and Microsoft revolutionized access to Enterprise applications. Duet provides access to SAP applications from within the familiar Microsoft Office environment, greatly increasing ease of use and user productivity. SAP and Microsoft had a powerful product story to tell, and they jointly envisioned a web site dedicated to the Duet user community: www.duet.com. AtreNet's role was to bring the site to life with an engaging, clean design, to launch the site, and to expand the value and functionality of the site through proven marketing strategies, deep technical knowledge, and flexible production resources.

AtreNet was a tremendous partner in the development of www.duet.com. AtreNet worked closely with us to develop a technical strategy and implementation plan for the site's features and DotNetNuke deployment. AtreNet configured the site hardware and hosting infrastructure, configured and integrated all the applications driving the site, developed the core Flash demo, and incorporated content.
Once the site was live, AtreNet enhanced the site with additional functionality, updated content, Duet community building and communication features, and the latest Duet product news and information. To kick-off the enhanced version of the site, AtreNet designed, drafted and delivered our first Monthly Newsletter. AtreNet's custom activity reports showed the impact of the Newsletter and site revisions, giving us confidence our campaign was making a difference.
We had high expectations for AtreNet when we engaged them to partner with us to move our initiatives forward. AtreNet has met and exceeded those expectations.

The Challenge
- Duet and Microsoft anticipated a huge response to the Duet product and the web site.
- During the period when the site was being planned, new versions of the underlying site delivery technology became available. An upgrade to the latest technology was an important step to achieve expansion goals.
- SAP and Microsoft had an ambitious Community Plan, detailing future content, interactivity and registration goals for www.duet.com. The success of www.duet.com depended on establishing a strong presence with the initial site, and then incrementally improving the site over time.
- Third-party, best-of-breed services, including email communications services from ExactTarget, and Streaming Media services from VitalStream, were selected to deliver critical site functionality. These services required integration with www.duet.com and configuration to enable a seamless user experience.
- Site metrics and reporting came from multiple sources. Duet Managers needed an integrated view of the metrics, regardless of source, and a way to correlate marketing activities with result data.
The Solution
- AtreNet created an identity platform for Duet that successfully leveraged the brand characteristics of both companies. We leveraged this platform to create a series of marketing collateral, including newsletters, trade show displays, sales presentations and magazine advertisements.
- AtreNet analyzed the existing infrastructure and site features and developed a plan that led to a confident decision to move to the latest version of DotNetNuke.
- AtreNet reconstructed the site in a new hosting center, configured and load tested all hardware, and upgraded DotNetNuke to the latest version.
- The new platform enabled the features and capabilities that had been part of the original site plan but were not supported under the previous version of DotNetNuke.
- Extensive load testing and tuning identified and removed performance bottlenecks, clearing the way for future Community growth.
- AtreNet extended DotNetNuke to incorporate a staged development area and review workflows to speed the addition and update of content.
- AtreNet systematically upgraded and extended DotNetNuke modules, writing new code when necessary.
- AtreNet designers, engineers and project managers engaged with Duet team members to ensure rapid response to service requests and quick turnarounds.
- AtreNet designed, drafted and refined the first Duet Beat newsletter. This was delivered in conjunction with the comprehensive site update to drive user interest in the site and introduce users to new content.
- AtreNet revised and updated the Flash presentation that served as the core product presentation on the site.
- AtreNet developed and deployed a site dedicated to reporting and metrics, with an ever-expanding set of reports and data distribution systems, enabling site monitoring, performance evaluation, and downloads of data captured from forms.
