Case Study:
Mercury Global Web Relaunch
Mercury is the global leader in business technology optimization, focused on maximizing the value of their client's IT operations. AtreNet has served as Mercury's web development partner since 1996. We were the logical choice when Mercury needed strategic and technical expertise to support the localization of a new design and content to more than two-dozen global sites. AtreNet provided comprehensive strategic direction for the project while extending and expanding the various content systems that we had created for Mercury's new US site. The result was a highly successful project under an exceedingly demanding schedule.
The Challenge
- The vast scope of the project required a stringent process and forward-thinking strategy.
- Mercury's web globalization manager would lead the approval, adoption and execution of the project strategy among a distributed team of global marketing managers.
- The project encompassed 26 global sites localized into 17 languages for a total of 4,581 pages.
- To achieve the efficiency necessary to meet the project deadline, Mercury's content management (TeamSite) and content translation (SDL) technologies would need to be integrated.
- In order to avoid chaos, a system of tracking the status of all global pages in relation to their US parent page would need to be developed.
