Rogue Wave Software solutions enable development organizations to build and deploy high-performance C++ and multi-language applications. Rogue Wave provides an expansive environment that simplifies and accelerates the creation and enhancement of high-performance C++ applications.

Rogue Wave wanted to improve the user experience for visitors downloading software, improve lead generation and simplify site maintenance by moving to a new content management system (CMS). AtreNet moved Rogue Wave's marketing site to an open source CMS, Drupal, that allows internal teams to manage site content. AtreNet created persistent calls-to-action throughout the site encouraging visitors to download software, access support or join their developer community, in order to increase lead generation and assist navigation.

To simplify downloading AtreNet created the Rogue Wave Software Download Center.

Rogue Wave Software Download Center

We designed the Rogue Wave Software Download Center, which offers a variety of software packages with different access restrictions and versions. The website was created to accommodate the non-optimal inclinations of visitors to choose the wrong software by blending sound design principles with the current web technology. The objective was to make it easy to scan and quickly identify the selection of software downloads, and access more information without leaving the page.

AtreNet designed the Rogue Wave Download Center with toggle buttons that allow users to expand or contract sections to learn more about the software. This approach also revealed the steps necessary to complete a download.

The HydraExpress section expanded to reveal a two-step process. First users select a Windows or a Linux compatible free-trial version; next the user is directed to fill out a form to request a license key.

In the Stingray GUI Components section users can access a list of software components for immediate download without registering.

Finally, you can see the SoucePro C++ section requires registration prior to download.

The Rogue Wave Software Download Center offers a wide variety of choices, yet it is highly usable. The design helps guide users by giving them control and reducing the visual complexity of choices.

The Challenge

• Rogue Wave's existing site lacked optimal marketing strategies, content was jammed together and user pathways were not defined
• The overall look and feel was outdated and therefore not representative of Rogue Wave
• The existing site was integrated with a very old and non user-friendly CMS; site updates were difficult and time consuming
