Case Study:
WS-I Rapid Relaunch™
and Technology Infrastructure
WS-I is an open industry organization that includes many of the top companies involved in web services. The organization's Board of Directors, for example, includes Accenture, BEA, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Sun, and webMethods. WS-I approached AtreNet to redesign the site to improve its visual appeal and usability. AtreNet delivered a professional new web presence that established a brand platform for the organization while enhancing the impact and usefulness of the content and resources within the site.
The Challenge
- WS-I's purpose is to promote web services interoperability across vendors, operating systems and programming languages by creating and distributing strategic documentation and providing testing tools that can confirm adherence to standards. The WS-I website is the primary means of communicating the organization's activities, and distributing the results of its work.
- With the growth of WS-I, the existing online distribution mechanism for documentation and tools was in need of streamlining and optimization.
- WS-I wanted a site that used web technologies consistent with its own focus on web services. Specifically, the site had to be XML-driven.
- While WS-I wanted a sophisticated new site, a key requirement was that content could be maintained by a small team working on part-time basis.
